The close collaboration of myself and my clients lead to the completion of these beautiful landscapes. The variety of material choice, stylized preferences, and overall appearances of each project comes from the different needs of the individual and the site and have since directed the experiences shared at these homes. Whether the new landscape leads to friends and family gathered around the glow of a fire pit, reading a book down by the CT river on a tucked away bluestone terrace or creating memories with little ones at a blueberry hedge, their spaces now fit the needs and wants of these families.
West Coast Vibe on the CT Shoreline
Nestled among the charming wood shingled houses on the Connecticut Shoreline is this beautifully remodeled home that needed a landscape that matched the owners laidback, low maintenance lifestyle. Working within tight spaces, where every inch of space is precious, we came up with this minimalist, west coast inspired beach vibe. From the geometric planters leading your eye straight to the ocean view to the feather reed grasses blowing in the breeze while you enjoy a fire in the natural boulder pit, this design allows the homeowners to do what they really come here to do…absolutely nothing.
A Family Gathering Place
This project was quite an undertaking…. 2000 square feet of Techo Bloc Blu patio stone, antika borders, onyx villagio inlays, a faux wood floor dining area, fire pit, pillars, lighting and sitting walls combine to make for a great space for family gathering. The design concept for this space was to encompass the huge 20 by 40 foot pool and fit a rather large family without looking like a giant concrete desert. To do this, the area was broken down into “rooms” and softened with outdoor lighting and mainly perennial plantings.
A Country Setting
The owner came to me with a clear problem…this historic country retreat was lacking in one area. The existing pool was outdated and only surrounded by grass. The goal of this design was to keep in character with the rest of the grounds so that was a huge consideration. The resulting project was a understated bluestone patio that fit into the surroundings, only visible from the bottom so that it still had that country pond quality. A natural boulder retaining wall and steps were erected, plantings designed to cover the fencing to give a garden feel, and the pool coping was refreshed, made from stone extracted from the property. The pool was also resurfaced, working closely with Century Pools out of CT.
Quaint Country Shade & Stone Gardens
This historic past presidential home needed a refresh in its front gardens, but the design needed to keep in mind a strong deer population, filtered shade, and keep its setting in mind. The result was a mainly perennial garden, softening the native stonescape.
Perennial Pool Gardens
Cascading perennials, blooming all season long, soften the stonescape designs around this stunning pool. From the natural stone coping, timeless bluestone patio, fireplace, pizza oven, curving boulders steps, and everything in between, this project will certainly be enjoyed for years to come.
Killingworth Outdoor Entertaining Space
This space utilized the variety of textures and color available through the use of pavers. This particular project was from the Techo Bloc line. We constructed a HUGE sun deck with large slab pavers, an intimate fire pit area and sitting wall, transitioning nicely into a bar counter and dining area an built around a classic rectangular pool. This family was looking for a party/entertaining space, and that’s exactly what they got!
